Keepsake Blue Foundation

Keepsake Blue HQ Germany 1945
Prior to the United States and her Allies embarking on the great crusade, beginning the invasion of the European continent on D-Day 1944, the amassed Commands were assigned codenames to ensure secrecy. To the 101st was given the codename "Kangaroo", as such her subordinate commands were given codenames all beginning with "K".

To the first brigade, the 327th Glider Infantry Regiment, was given the codename, "Keepsake". As was, and still is the tradition amongst Airborne units, each Airborne Battalion was assigned a color to preserve additional secrecy. The color designation of the three battalions of each brigade were: "Red" for the 1st Battalion, "White" for the 2nd Battalion, and "Blue" For the third Battalion.

And so, the 3rd Battalion of the 327th Infantry Regiment was designated as "Keepsake Blue". We are the final generation of Keepsake Blue soldiers having served our colors proudly on her deployment to Iraq in 2003, before being cased for an indeterminate length of time. To this generation and all of those who came before us, we at the Keepsake Blue Foundation aim to preserve not just our "Rendezvous with Destiny", but that of all generations of our Keepsake Blue family.
